WELCOME

Hi, we are the Global Educo Association. We are glad that you are here as your role within the association is of most importance to us. You are a part of our purpose. Our vision is to broaden the understanding of global issues among students who are interested in making an impact. We believe every voice, including yours, should be heard.

Why did we start?

It was in early January of 2021, when a small group of Business and Biology students--namely, Carrina, Cedrick, Lara, Caleb, Caitlyn and Ben--envisioned a campus where students from all ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds could come together to share our perspectives on issues defining our world today. We envisioned a student-led association that could conjoint students from all majors and walks of life around one table, to make the world a better place. We saw a grave problem within and outside of our campus. We saw that students were caught up in their own social bubbles, unaware of the problems of the world off campus. We saw that, amidst the polarization, misunderstanding and divides within our world, many voices were being neglected.

We felt it was incumbent that we, as this world's future leaders, make this mark that would inspire the hearts and minds of students, and ultimately lead to future world leaders who--despite differences--are truly knowledgeable and understanding of one another's perspectives to the point that they, too, could argue for another's human dignity.

At the heart of every human being is this need to be heard; this desire to be understood. We want to belong. But too often, fights, riots, and wars begin because we leave many voiceless—mute. Too often we turn to our biases and to judgement, without seeking to understand why it is someone is the way they are and how we can better understand ordinary people and help them. Too often we feel alienated—that our fears, anxieties or inequities are our own and simply social norms. The purpose of Global Educo Association is to engage discussions that transcend diverse perspectives on current global issues, whatever they may be.

We believe diversity, even amongst our own community, is a gift to be explored. And we bring this perspective into every discussion we have. We employ God's calling for us to be “attentive to wisdom” and inclined to “understanding” (Proverbs 2:2) and seek to have discussions about the real issues, problems, and challenges within our world today.

Educating and developing.

Our journey to bring diversity and understanding to the TWU community began in the beginning of 2021. Quite often, students find themselves caught up in their own social bubbles. They are unaware of the problems of the world off campus. And amidst the world’s chaos, there are voices being neglected.

We believe diversity, even amongst our own community, is a gift to be explored. And we bring this perspective into every discussion we have. We know that God calls us to be “attentive to wisdom” and inclined to “understanding” (Proverbs 2:2) and seek to have discussions about the real issues, problems, and challenges within our world today.

Education and development.

We live in a culture where diversity is abundant—a society that cares about individualism, multiculturalism, and having an impact. So, we ask: how do we broaden understandings to make an impact?

Diversity has to do with having a variety of backgrounds and opinions; but it also goes far beyond that. To experience diversity is to openly listen to others, with contrasting beliefs and perspectives, voice their thoughts freely. This can only be done with the understanding that diversity is a gift, or a benefit, in conversation. Ultimately, living in diversity means understanding the interconnectedness of humanity. In doing so, global issues have the potential to be solved.

The Global Educo Association seeks to hold discussions, that are both educated and open, to inspire an interconnectedness in the community. We believe that a small discussion can have a large impact.
